During the month of November, my sister Janelle did a "things I am thankful for" each day leading up to Thanksgiving. During the days leading up to Christmas I am going to do "My Favorite Things." These will be all-things-Christmas. The song from The Sound of Music, My Favorite Things has some how found it's way into the Christmas world, which is okay I guess seeing as it is giving me a good title for posts for the next month.
My favorite things today are REAL Christmas trees! I'm sorry if anyone feels differently but it is against my religion to have a fake tree. I need the adventure of going out and finding one, arguing over if it's straight or not and what angle the big ugly hole should be at, smelling pine all season and then burning the crackly pine needles sometime during New Year's. I love CHRISTMAS TREES!!! Today, Breanne and I got a REAL one for the apartment. Tomorrow we will work on decorating and I'll put pictures up.
Merry Christmas, everyone!

I like this layout better than your other Christmas one. It's really cute.
So, I'm anti-fake tree, too, but (and please don't disown me) I think we're going to get a fake one this year. Here's the thing. We don't get back from Indiana until Sunday night. Ben has Scouts on Tuesdays, tithing settlement on Wednesdays, and I work on Thursdays. We're leaving for Maine and Connecticut on the 19th, and Ben won't be home for 8 or 9 days. Ben doesn't want to leave a real tree up that long, because it's not safe, but I don't want to take it down before Christmas. If we wait until next weekend to go look for a tree during the day, we'll have it for less than two weeks. If we do it Monday night, that means we have to take Julie out in the nighttime cold, and I already think she won't do well with the experience. Ben and I are both pro-real tree, but we decided that it might be best to do a fake one this year (we'll probably buy it here and take it home to OH with us), and then have it in the attic for future "just in case" use (like if we're having a rough financial year and can't afford a tree) or we can even let the kids have a tree in their room, in addition to the real one.
